Example Student Media

|
Below are some of the best examples of
student media created in Dr. Auter's classes.
Websites were all produced for real-world clients as a component
of CMCN 338 -- Internet Communication. Videos were created
for a variety of TV production courses -- also for real-world
clients or objectives. Click the links below for more information on the projects and
to watch the programs.
Programs are also produced for Acadiana Open Channel in Dr. Auter's
CMCN 360 TV Studio Production class.

authoring class produced a promotional DVD for the
UL Department of Communication. The DVD included
individual segments focusing on the undergraduate and graduate

Dr. Auter's Spring 2005 DVD authoring class produced a promotional DVD
for the
UL Center for
Business and Information Technology (CBiT). The DVD,
distributed to government and business leaders statewide, promotes the
services of CBiT to Louisiana businesses large and small.
The video below contains not only the Access
Louisiana promotional video but also a video tour of the menus and links
that students created on the DVD.

In Spring 2004, Dr. Auter's documentary video
production course contracted with the University of Louisiana's
Center
for Advanced Computer Studies to produce a documentary about "Cajunbot,"
the center's entry into the Grand DARPA Challenge "robot race."
The video, which chronicles the conception, construction, and racing of
Cajunbot is being broadcast on
Louisiana Public Broadcasting's instructional video feed -- carried
by LPB affiliate stations statewide.

The
Lafayette Parish Bayou Vermilion District was awarded federal
Environmental Protection Agency, and Louisiana Department of
Environmental Protection grant money in 2003 to address issues regarding
reducing pollution in the Vermilion River. In Spring 2003, Dr.
Auter's documentary video production course developed an educational "docu-drama"
about storm water runoff pollution reduction for BVD. The video
was distributed to all schools in the Parish.
"Nautilus News"

NNTV is a 30-minute student news program
that is telecast in Pensacola,
Florida via UWF-TV, a channel provided to
the university by Cox. The program has been produced for over 15
years at UWF. This is an example program from March 12, 2001 --
while Dr. Auter was faculty advisor, executive producer, and
instructional coordinator for the program. During that time, the
newscast also maintained a companion website with streaming video clips.
This episode of NNTV also contains several
student-produced public service announcements that were created as a
part of Dr. Auter's electronic field production class. They ran in
this and other programming on UWF TV.
(Please note that the information in this broadcast
and on this website is an example of work published in 2001. Some
external links, like the NNTV Listbot, are no longer active.)
"Spiritual
Journey"
[Return
to Top]
With the help of Prof. Doug Friedrich and English
instructor, Ms. Ora Wills, Dr. Auter obtained a $3,000 minority
programming development grant from the UWF Office of the Provost.
With this funding, his documentary production class produced three
30-minute programs on the African American experience in Pensacola,
Florida. All three programs were telecast on UWF TV in 2001.
"Spiritual Journey" looks at African Americans and religion.
